Marrakech → Essaouira
Essaouira is three hours west through the argan country, and the bus does it for less if time is all you are counting. What the private car buys is the stop at an argan cooperative, the tree-climbing goats when they are there, and arriving at the Bab Doukkala gate instead of a station outside the walls with your luggage.

Cars cannot enter the Essaouira medina. We drop at Bab Doukkala or Bab Marrakech, a few minutes from most riads.
The coast runs 10 degrees cooler and much windier than Marrakech. Bring a layer even in August.
